Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that he will be placed under self-quarantine for some time, RIA reported, because COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in his contacts.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peshkov assured reporters that the president was “in excellent health condition” and underwent a diagnostic test.
Peshkov explained that many cases were detected in the contacts of the Russian president, but did not specify whether these were cases of vaccinated or non-vaccinated people.
The Kremlin has also made it clear that Putin will not personally attend the work of the regional summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which includes the former Soviet republics and is being held in Tajikistan on Friday. However, he will take part via video conference.
