Yesterday, December 21, 2023, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America attended the first annual Christmas Carols at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the National Shrine at the World Trade Center.
The event was hosted by Anthoula Katsimatidis and Ernie Anastos, TV and radio host of 77 WABC, and the carols were sung by the children of Saint Demetrios School in Astoria (Saint Demetrios Cathedral of Astoria). The children sang vibrant and cheerful Christmas carols for the audience, among the special guests were Santa and an elf. Archbishop Elpidophoros warmly greeted all of the children and distributed Christmas cards and candy canes with parish priest, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Andreas Vithoulkas.
Also in attendance, was the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite Nektarios Papazafiropoulos, the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Gregory Stamkopoulos, the Chairman of the Friends of St. Nicholas Michael Psaros, Master Chanter and Pastoral Assist of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine Dimitrios Katsiklis, and the families of the Saint Demetrios children.
