The Founder and Protector of the Church of Patras, Saint Andrew the Apostle, the First-Called, was celebrated with special splendor.
Thousands of people throughout the night, but also during the Divine Liturgy, flooded the Temple and its surroundings to venerate the relics of the Saint and his Holy Cross.
Metropolitan Theoklitos of Ierissos presided over the Orthros of the feast, while Metropolitan Ierotheos of Nafpaktos presided over the Divine Liturgy. Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia preached the Divine Word touching on contemporary problems and the modern social situation.
Archpriests Ierotheos of Nafpaktos, Chrysostomos of Chalkida, Chrysostomos of Messinia, Athanasios of Ilia, Theoklitos of Ierissos, Chrysostomos of Mani, Ieronymos of Kalavryta, Damaskinos of Aetolia, Bishop Chrysanthos of Kernitsa and Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras concelebrated the Divine Liturgy.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Doxology was performed, during which Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras closed with a theological reference to the Apostle Andrew and a warm supplication to God, the Divine Liturgy in the Church, and with warm thanks to the Hierarchs and with wishes to the crowds of pious Christians.
This was followed by the magnificent and brilliant Litany of the Honorable Cara and the Holy Icon of Saint Andrew, in the city of Patras.
The Government was represented by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Christina Alexopoulou, while the authorities participated, at local and regional levels, Political, Military, Security Bodies, Educational, Judicial, etc., students of all levels of Education, local associations, and others.
